CBD Info

CBD Info

There’s confusion and misinformation about CBD. Part of our goal is to help provide clear, accurate information about CBD and its role in helping to improve overall wellness and balance. In fact, we are so committed to being THE resource for CBD-related topics, that we've assembled a Science Advisory Board whose mission is to demystify CBD and provide fact-based information that you need to know. CBD stands for Cannabidiol and is a naturally occurring compound from the cannabis plant that is non-intoxicating and non-addictive. The way CBD is sourced and processed makes a big difference in the quality of the final CBD product. In order to help you better understand how Zuna Brands stands out from the crowded field of CBD products on the market, let's first review some basic information about CBD.

What Is CBD

What exactly is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol… not to be confused with Cannabinoids (which CBD is one of the phytoconstituents of more than one hundred) found in the Cannabis plant ( Cannabis sativia). We love the cannabis plant because it has an abundance of cannabinoids, terpenes, and nutrients that can be extracted from either the hemp or marijuana… depending on the therapeutic actions you’re seeking, and the type of product being formulated.

What’s so special about CBD?

What’s so special about CBD?

Overall, we think of CBD as the perfect balancing ingredient that supports the body’s natural processes internally and promotes skin health externally.

  • For the Skin: CBD is the ideal “foundation” for topical applications because it’s so rich in phytonutrients, antioxidants, non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores), gentle, deeply hydrating, and has the perfect balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6’s fatty acids. CBD contains unique properties that can make your skin look and feel better while strengthening the overall wellness of your skin. We love using CBD in our skin formulations because it works synergistically with our other botanicals to enhance CBD’s skin-nourishing properties while giving optimal results.
  • For Internal Use: CBD when taken orally shows much promise promoting overall wellbeing, providing relief, and supporting mood health. We love using CBD in our tinctures and oral formulations because it’s gentle on the body, works in harmony with our other plant-derived ingredients, and promotes balance and optimal wellness.

Will I get high if I use CBD?

Not. At. All. CBD has less than 0.3% of THC in it. THC contains all of the well-known psychoactive effects, but CBD contains only trace amounts that are so little; they won’t affect you in any way.

What is CBD isolate?

It’s exactly what it means… just CBD. The isolate is the purest form of CBD, clean and simple cannabidiol, which is extracted from the whole plant source. This also means there is no THC.

What is Broad Spectrum CBD?

It contains a “broad” array of cannabinoids and terpenes, not just cannabidiol but it does filter out as much THC as possible.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

It contains the “full” spectrum-meaning no filtering after the extraction of the whole plant (leaves, flowers, stem, and seeds) leaving the full range of constituents including cannabinoids, terpenes, and up to 0.3% THC.

How do you know if the CBD high quality?

One word. Transparency. You should be able to easily find all the information you want about a product easily and quickly.

CBD QUALITY CHECKLIST

COA: Certificate of Analysis or COA is a third-party validation of product purity and CBD concentrations.

You will find every COA listed for every product on our website. At our manufacturing facility, we implement the highest standards and testing procedures focused on purity, quality, and potency to enhance each plant’s natural essence. We even take it to another level… our CBD undergoes extensive third party testing far beyond the necessary requirements and, of course, it’s non-GMO, vegan, grown in the USA, and heavy metal and pesticide free.

CBD Source: Know where plants came from. Was it as local farm? Was it out of the country? What did they use sustainable farming methods?

Here at Zuna, we are conscious of every part of the process from the dirt, seeds, farming methods, and even the mindset and values of our growers. We only use local farms that we regularly visit and all are based in the USA.

Extraction Methods: The type of CBD used should be clearly listed (isolate, full, or broad) as well as the extraction method. Each type of CBD should be extracted based on the method of delivery, the other ingredients used, and the bioavailability.

We utilize the best extraction methods for each product that enhances the constituents and preserves each plant’s unique properties.

Company Information: know the people behind the products. Is it local? Is it based in a foreign country? Do they have a true passion for CBD and a well-trained team?

We are a USA company that was formed from one simple idea… that nature knows best. We believe there’s an inherit intelligence found in nature that is far beyond human comprehension and we must utilize this gift. This was our motivation to found Zuna Brands and we gathered the world’s leading chemists, farmers, scientists, and naturopathic medical doctors to craft the finest CBD products focused on this principle. Taking this to another level, we also have a scientific advisory board of physicians who are experts in psychiatry, dermatology, sports medicine, nutrition, the endocannabinoid system, and botanical medicine that evaluates each of our products.

Packaging: Yes, this is important too! Does the container protect the ingredients against oxidation? Is it glass or plastic? Is the package and label recyclable?

We have painstakingly looked at every detail from each ingredient source and seed to our labels and our packaging. We use dark glass containers because they are the best. They help to preserve our precious ingredients; they do not leach into our formulations like plastic, and the dark color prevents UV light from entering, which could cause premature oxidation of our products. We even use glass droppers in our tincture bottles because we want every single one of our formulations to be pure and stay pure when it reaches your hands.
